Broadsheet design for an academic research report about queer zines, exploring expressive and chaotic zine elements within a controlled newspaper structure. The use of red symbolises the anger expressed in many of the zines and draws the reader’s eye across the design. A bold, editorial display font makes it hard to ignore. Handwritten type is also used to link to the DIY aspect of zines. To keep the reader engaged, the centre spread provides a break from the main report and fully explores the cut-and-paste zine aesthetic.
